Install the Samsung GDI drivers (samsung-gdi-foomatic-1.0.ppc.dmg) 3. Added a printer in the System Preferences That was it. It didn't have the drivers for my 1710 but I used the 1210 drivers and it worked. Hope it works for you. – Samsung ML-1430/XAA Driver is a software released by Samsung. It has the function of compiling print job from a computer and then transferred to the printer via USB cable connection, via LAN environment or via Email.
You can find an open source printer driver for both by going here and looking up each printer, then read the notes and download the driver and install it. It looks like you also need to download the (which doesn't include the drivers for your printer), because it has other things in it which the drivers depend on to work properly. Do that, follow the directions and with any luck you should be able to use those two printers. Printer drivers are not executable code, they're just ASCII text commands, so they aren't PPC or Intel-specific.

Just in case anyone is reading.I followed the instructions on this thread to connect my samsung ML-1210 to my new mac mini (intel based).
Installed the ghostscript interpreter first (ghostscript 7.05.5), then the samsung-gdi-footmatic-1.0.ppc.dmg, then the samsung-ML-1210-gdi.ppd. At first it seemed to work, but then when I send a job to print, the samsung-1210 printer window says it's starting the job and then stops immediately. It used to work fine with my powerbook G4 (was stolen this WE, hence the need to reinstall everything). I can't remember how I installed the driver on the powerbook (it seemed less complicated). Did I get something wrong in the files I downloaded? Your help would be much appreciated. All this stuff is way beyond my understanding. Apple Footer.
